PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of foam in a lead glass having a specified compsn. and to improve the strength of the glass, by incorporating a specified amt. of CdO into said lead glass and using the lead glass for sealing. CONSTITUTION:A sealing glass consists at least of 2-7% SiO2, 4-11% B2O3, 70-85% PbO, 1-7% ZnO, 1-5% Al2O3, and 3-15% CdO, by weight. The sealing glass generates scarcely foamed having high transparency and high strength. Accordingly, when it is applied to a magnetic head, etc., the production yield is improved, and the breakage during use is reduced. If the content of CdO is <=3% in the above described compsn., the effect for improving the strength is less. If it exceeds 15%, the thermal expansion coefft. is too high.
