PURPOSE:To display the actual size of a block editing area for an operator by computing the size of the block editing area from the number of lines from the beginning point line to the temporary terminal point line of the block editing area and a set up interlinear pitch. CONSTITUTION:After the beginning point of the block editing area is designated by an area designating operator 5, during a time before the terminal line is designated by the area designating operator 5 next time, a number of lines data to show the number of lines up to the temporary terminal line is generated by a number of lines data generating means 6. On the other hand, pitch data to show the interlinear pitch set by a pitch setting operator 1 is generated from a pitch data generating means 2, and according to the said pitch data and the above-mentioned number of lines data, the size of the block editing area is computed by a computing means 3, and the result of it is displayed on a displaying means 4. Thus, the operator can know the size of the block editing area at that point of time by only operating the area designating operator 5.
