PURPOSE:To improve the workability of strips by performing different peripheral speed rolling or a skew rolling under a specific condition on low carbon steel thin cast billet contained specific percents, by wt., of C, Si, Mn, Al, and Ti, etc. to perform direct rolling at a prescribed temp. and draft. CONSTITUTION:A low carbon steel cast billet of 3-50mm thick containing, by wt., <=0.06% C, 0.45% Si, 0.05-0.45% Mn, 0.005-0.1% Sol.Al is used; 0.005-0.04% Ti, 0.005-0.04% Nb, 0.0005-0.005% Ca are further added as necessary. The cast billet is rolled by >=5% different peripheral speed rolling or skew rolling by a cross angle of >=1% between upper and lower rolls and is subjected to direct hot rolling having one or more times drafts of >=40% per pass at 1,000-1,200 deg.C. In that method, ferrite grains in the strip are refined to prevent generation of cracks in working. Therefore, the workability of the strip is improved.
