PURPOSE:To regenerate a radiation image appropriate for an observing read shadow by removing an image signal in an unphotographed section in case of reading out an image signal from a dividedly photographed radiation image and determining an image processing condition. CONSTITUTION:A radiation image photographing part 20 photographs an object 101 and accumulatively records radiation image information, a reading part 30 for book reading converts the recorded information into a digitized image signal and an image reproducing part 40 reproduces a radiation image from the image signal. In case of executing divided photographing in said constitution,, the processing is executed as follows. Namely, an unphotographed area recognizing circuit 317 inputs divided photographing information Sd and outputs an unphotographed area indicating signal St indicating an unphotographed section. A signal extracting circuit 314 removes an image in the area of the signal St from an image signal Sp and sends the residual signal Sp' to a control circuit 315 to determine the gradation processing condition. An image signal obtained as the result is regenerated by a reproducing part 40 to obtain a radiation image appropriate for an observing read shadow.
