PURPOSE:To extend the flaw detection region of a test body, by providing a curvature to the fixed surface of a vibrator and shifting the center of curvature from the center of the length of the vibrator by a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:A curvature permitting the diffusion of an ultrasonic wave is provided to the mount surfaces of the vibrators 1, 2 of transmitting and receiving attachments 3, 4 and the center of curvature is shifted by predetermined quantity A from the center of the length of each of the vibrators 3, 4. Therefore, ultrasonic beam is incident to a test body so as to provide an angle theta with respect to the surface thereof. As a result, the ultrasonic beam generates a predetermined angle of refraction in the test body 11 by Snell laws of refraction. Since an ultrasonic wave is diffused, the flaw detectable region 12 directly under the vibrators 3, 4 is not reduced even in such a state that ultrasonic beam is inclined as a whole and the region 12 in the inclined direction of the ultrasonic beam is further increased and the flaw detectable region can be extended.
