PURPOSE:To coat a seal material without contacting by putting a liquid crystal panel and a reference plate in parallel with each other and running a coating nozzle along the reference plate. CONSTITUTION:A reference plate 21 is placed on a surface plate 20, and scales of measures 23a-23c fixed to a plate 22 are set to zero points. In this state, the reference plate 21 is set on adjusters 25a-25c, and adjusters 25a-25c are moved in the direction of an arrow 26 and are set to zero points of measures 23a-23c. Next, the plate 22 is detached, and a guide roll 31 attached to a coating nozzle 22 is lowered by a Z-axis direction driving part 12 and is brought into contact with the upper face of the reference plate 21, and the coating nozzle 11 is run by a Y-axis direction driving part 13, an X-axis direction driving part 14, and a axial rotation driving part 15 while discharging the seal material. Thus, the seal material is coated on a liquid crystal panel 1b without contacting.
