PURPOSE:To permit automatic identification of track constitution at the time of recording and reproducing of an optical card provided with information recording parts and address parts for each of plural parallel tracks by recording identifiers to indicate the track constitution in the address parts. CONSTITUTION:This optical card has the optical recording part 2 consisting of the plural parallel tracks provided in order to optically read the information. The respective tracks are formed of the address information parts 3 and information recording area 4 provided at one end is the track direction. The information part 3 is constituted of a synchronous lock in part 5, a data mark part 6, a track number part 7 and the recording part 8 for identifying the track constitution. Then, the need for adjustment for every track constitution, change over by a switch or change over of the commands of a host computer at the time of recording and reproducing is eliminated by identifying the number of sectors per track indicating the track constitution and the number of byte per sector.
