PURPOSE:To inexpensively manufacture a magnetic head with superior abrasion resistance and junction strength, by filling a glass material with a high m.p. into a track regulating groove on which a glass film with a low m.p. and a metallic film are laminated. CONSTITUTION:A glass thin film 11 with a low m.p. and a thin metallic film 12 are formed on the junction plane of block half bodies 10a and 10b having the track regulating grooves 9, and half bodies 13a and 13b are joined through a gap spacer after mirror-grinding the junction plane, and the glass with the high m.p. is filled and heated from the thin film 11. The molten glass are not mixed by being separated with the glass thin film 11 and the thin metallic film 12 flowing in a groove 9. Since the thin film 11 is set at a molten state even when the coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass is different remarkably from that of a core material, no distortion is generated in both the core material and the glass in the groove 9. Therefore, it is possible to use the glass with the high m.p. and high hardness as the one to be filled in the groove 9, and to manufacture the head with high abrasion resistance and junction strength inexpensively.
