PURPOSE:To generate little pressure loss without injuring the view of a stack by a method wherein a rainwater receiver, the opening diameter of which is almost equal to the diameter of a flue gas discharge port is installed in the stack near the flue gas discharge port and the inner wall of the stack is expanded to form a flue gas passage. CONSTITUTION:In a furnace for a test plant, a rainwater receiver 3 is installed under and near the flue gas discharge port 2 of a stack 1 and a flue gas passage 5 is formed between the receiver 3 and the inner wall 4 of the stack. The receiver 3 is preferably formed in funnel shape and its opening part 6 is faced toward the port 2 and an opening diameter D2 is formed larger than the inner diameter D3 of the port 2. The bottom part 7 of the receiver 2, of which center part 8 is projected downward, is connected to a drain pipe 9, the other end of which is extended to the outside of the stack 1. It is desirable to install a cone-shaped covering member 12 above the part 6. Because a device may not be observed from the outside when it is red-heated by flue gas, the view of the stack is not impaired. Because the discharge flow of the flue gas is arranged not to be blocked, pressure loss is therefore reduced.
