VIDEO SIGNAL RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To record and reproduce a broad band video signal while keeping the compatibility with a conventional software by generating a reference signal of a single frequency in a frequency band of M low frequency chrominance carrier signal and a frequency modulation luminance signal, utilizing the reference signal and recording/ reproducing the signal. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal Y is frequency-modulated by an FM modulation circuit 16 at a carrier frequency of nearly 6.5MHz. A chrominance carrier signal C is converted into a low frequency by a frequency conversion circuit 24 and mixed with a reference signal fTBC for time axis correction by a mixer 28. A multiplier 42 forms a carrier of (3.58+0.629)MHz from a reference signal of 3.58MHz of a reference frequency oscillator 40 and an output signal of a PLL 38, a frequency converter 24 converts the chrominance carrier signal of 3.58MHz into a low frequency chrominance carrier signal of a carrier frequency 0.629MHz based on the said carrier. The signal fTBC is detected in the reproduction system by a BPF 50 having the pass band of fTBC in case of the said recording signal and the low side band component of the FM luminance signal is detected from the recording signal of VHS. The reference voltage VTM of the comparator circuit 54 is set in between these signals to discriminate the kind of the recording signal. The recording signal is demodulated in response to the result of discrimination.
