PURPOSE:To grind a fine diametral bar work of a hypodermic needle or the like in a proper state all the time, by reading corresponding data out of a speed setting memory at each time when grinding time by a timer elapses as long as the specified time, and controlling the revolving speed of a grindstone. CONSTITUTION:With a work starting command, a main control part 15 first reads out a grindstone speed NT in case of grinding time being zero, from a speed setting memory 17, then makes a grindstone rotate at the initial speed N0 via a stone driving control part 20 and a stone driving part 11, and roughing is carried out. And, the grinding time to be judged from the current value of a drive motor is integrated by a timer 19 in advance, and at the time of the next finishing, the setting speed NT conformed to this grinding time, namely, conformed to an abrasive loss of the grindstone is read out of the memory 17, thus finishing is carried out. This grinding time is integrated by the timer 19 in consecutive order, reading it out corresponding to the setting speed at times of roughing and finishing of the next work, and the stone speed conformed to the stone abrasive loss is set, keeping the stone peripheral speed constant. Thus, grinding operations can be done in a proper state all the time without depending upon skillful labor.
