PURPOSE:To improve a closeup photographing function by displacing at least a 2nd group by as much as a prescribed distance to an object side and fix the same at a telephoto end. CONSTITUTION:This zoom lens is constituted, successively from an object side, a 1st group I having positive refracting power, 2nd group II having negative refracting power, 3rd group III having positive refracting power, 4th group IV having positive refracting power, and 5th group V having negative refracting power. The 1st group I, the 3rd group III, the 4th group IV, and the 5th group V move to the object side and the 2nd group II moves to the image side at the time of zooming from a wide angle to the telephoto range. The lens is put into a state of permitting the closeup photographing by displacing at least the 2nd group from the telephoto end by as much as the prescribed distance to the outside of the zoom range on the object side and fixing the group at that position. Focusing is executed by integrally moving the 1st group I and the 2nd group II in both the zoom range and the state of permitting the closeup photographing. Focusing to a near distance beyond the ordinary photographing range is thereby permitted.
