PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF BENZOHETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS

Benzo-heterocyclic compds. of formula (I) are prepd. by the ring- closing reaction of quinoline derivs. of formula (II) to produce compds. of formula (III), and the hydrolyzation of (III). In the formulas, R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is H, lower alkyl or lower alkanoyl; X is H or halogen; n is 1 or 2. (I) are useful as an antibacterial agent and may be produced in a high purity and good yield.
