PURPOSE:To make the device responsive only to waterdrops and to prevent an error operation by converting the output of a waterdrop detecting device which consists of photoelectric elements into DC, differentiating the DC output to compute the varied portion, and driving a visual range securing device for a vehicle depending on the variation. CONSTITUTION:A waterdrop detecting device 1 is composed of a circular arc form sensor 11 of a light transmitting member, a luminous element 12, and a light receiving element 13, and a light made into a specific frequency from a modulating/oscillating circuit 21 in a visual range securing device 2 is injected to the luminous element 12. And a signal responding to the light received by the light receiving element 13 is fed to a regulation circuit 23 including a LPF (low pass filter) 24 through a BPF (band pass filter) 22 which passes a specific frequency, and the output of the BPF is converted into DC. The DC output is differentiated in a differential circuit 25 to detect the varied portion, and after the variation is amplified, it is compared with a specific voltage level at a comparator 26. And depending on the result of the comparison, the visual range securing device is driven through a single multivibrator 27 and an output drive relay 28.
