PURPOSE:To obtain a good synthesized picture by providing a reference mark and correcting and synthesizing the scale, the position relation and the directional characteristic of the sizes of the plural pictures based on this reference mark. CONSTITUTION:For instance, the black marks M1 and M2 separated in a main scanning direction outside an effective picture area are provided on an original. A reference mark detecting circuit 4, at the time of scanning a part outside of the effective picture area, detects the positions of the marks M1, M2. A skew correction circuit 5 detects a dislocation in the angle of the original from mark position information, operates the quantity of correcting the address data of a picture signal based on the detected quantity of the dislocation of the angle and applies to an image memory part 2 through a control unit 3. In the image memory part 2, the dislocation in the angle is corrected to store the picture signal similarly to that the original is mounted in a normal direction. Thereby, in a synthesizing processing main body 11, a picture directed to a proper direction ca be synthesized to obtain the good synthesized picture.
