PURPOSE:To uniformly cool lines of hot coils in a shortened cooling time, by arranging plural plates for guiding straight air in each of grooves for airways and by guiding cold air to subject the lines of hot coils to forced air cooling. CONSTITUTION:Many grooves 5 for airways are cut in the concrete floor 2 of a cooling yard at required intervals and an air intake 9 opening to the open air is connected to each of the grooves 5. A large-sized fan A is set in each of the grooves 5 at the air intake 9 side end under a window and plural plates 6 for guiding straight air produced by the fan A are arranged in each of the grooves 5. Fresh cold air sucked by the fan A is guided by the plates 6 and straightly blown on lines of hot coils 1 to uniformly cool the hot coils 1. Thus, the time required to cool the lines of hot coils can be made uniform independently of the position.
