PURPOSE:To shorten repairing work and to prevent temp. fall of a furnace body, by packing refractory from opened hole of a plugged press-in hole arranging at center point between bottom blowing tuyeres near top part of new nozzle exchanged from damaged nozzle metal. CONSTITUTION:Beforehand, by boring the center point between the bottom blowing tuyeres at bottom part 1 in a steel making furnace, the press-in hole 3 formed. This press-in hole 3 is plugged press-in hole 3. In case the above tuyere is damaged, the damaged nozzle metal 2 is pulled out from out of the furnace and exchanged for new nozzle metal 4. Then, this metal 4 is inserted, so that the top part thereof 4 makes higher than the surface of packing layer 5 of refractory for press-in packed from the press-in hole 3. Next, the plugged press-in hole 3 is opened by a drill, and the refractory for press-in is packed from there to form the packed layer 5.
