PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition providing molded articles having excellent impact resistance and surface appearance, containing polyphenylene oxide resin, a specific polyamide resin and, if necessary, a rubber-like substance. CONSTITUTION:A composition comprising (A) 5-80pts.wt., preferably 30-70pts. wt. polyphenylene oxide resin [preferably poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether], (B) 95-20pts.wt., preferably 70-30pts.wt. polyamide which is obtained by reacting a polyamide resin having >=1, preferably >=1.01, more preferably >=1.1, especially >=1.4 equivalent ratio of end amino group and end carboxyl group, such as polyamide after polymerization, with a compound (e.g. diamine) containing a group to be reacted with carboxyl group and, if necessary, 0-30pts. wt. based on 100pts.wt. sum of the components A and B of a rubber-like substance.
