The assembly line e.g. in the car mfr. is mounted on a support frame (2), whose outer skids are carried by rollers (6) set into a guide track. The lateral position of the guides is controlled by vertical axis rollers (9) each side of the track. Some rollers are driven by servomotors (16) to move the frame. The assembly line is mounted on the frame using sprung supports. The drive rollers are on a movable mounting to press the frame against the guide rollers on the other side of the track. The drive rollers are coupled to the drive motor by a belt drive.
