PURPOSE:To enable both an automatic fascimile reception operation and an automatic answering telephone reception operation to be performed, by completing response first to a case that a call issuing side is a telephone set when an incoming call is received, and performing a facsimile communication operation by a facsimile equipment main body by a reception mode control means when it is decided that the call issuing side is a facsimile equipment based on the decided result of a cell issuing identifying means afterwards. CONSTITUTION:A main control circuit 10 monitors a call signal of 16Hz from am exchange, and when the arrival of the call signal is detected, closes a line 1, and sends a facsimile procedure signal to an opponent side by using a modem 9 and a transmission/reception circuit 5, and next, outputs an operation starting signal via an I/O8, then, operates a sound recorder 6. When the facsimile procedure signal is detected, facsimile reception is performed, and also, the sound recorder 6 is stopped via the I/O8, then, a recorded content is invalidated. When a voice is detected, each control procedure of a facsimile transmission/reception means P1 and a voice detecting means P3 is executed, and a procedure for speech is executed.
