摘要 PURPOSE:To appropriately and easily a threshold level for multileveling a color image especially, by multileveling a color signal based on a threshold level determined by a multileveling determining circuit, and selecting a threshold level corresponding to the color signal multileveled by the multileveling determining circuit. CONSTITUTION:A color signal brought to a data select is supplied to a binarization circuit 26, and also, supplied to a threshold level determining circuit 50, and in this example, an optimum threshold level Ti is determined at every one scanning line, and based on its threshold level Ti, said signal is brought to a multileveling processing. A selecting signal (BBR signal) is supplied to the threshold level determining circuit 50, as well, and a correction coefficient (ki) and a correction value alphai corresponding to its color signal are selected. Accordingly, by deriving in advance the optimum coefficient (ki) and correction value alphai, so that they can correspond to plural colors and plural originals, respectively, the image signal can be brought to a multileveling processing with an optimum threshold level, even if the color and a kind of the original are different. In such a way, a distinct color image being free from a slip or an omission of an image can be recorded.
