PURPOSE:To prevent contamination of electric chargers by moving a developer carrier in the direction opposite from the moving direction of an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:Generation of toner splashing is prevented in the lower part 46 of the aperture of a 1st developing device 4 when a sleeve 41 of the developing device 41 is rotated in the direction opposite from the rotating direction (arrow A) of a photosensitive drum 1. More specifically, the splashing of the toner in the developing device 4 is often generated by impact in a part 49 for taking in the developer at the time when the developer remaining after the development without being used for the development is recovered to a developer layer 47, but the part 49 for taking in the developer where the splashing is liable to arise is disposed on the upper stream side in the rotating direction of the drum 1. Even if, therefore, the toner splashes in the part 49, the leakage of the toner in the direction of the electric charger 5 on the down stream side and a 2nd optical system 6 is prevented by the curtain consisting of a magnetic brush in a developing part 80. The contamination of the electric charger and the optical system is thereby prevented.
