PURPOSE:To permit easy and sure change of a liquid compsn. in a column without incorporating air bubbles into a packing material by inverting the column to discharge the excess soln. from the column inside. CONSTITUTION:A filter 11 is mounted on the base in the column 10 and the packing material 12 is packed on the filter 11; further, a filter 13 is mounted thereon. A cap body 16 is hermetically mounted on the end of the column 10. The column 10 is then mounted on a fixer 21 of a supporting device 20. The fixture 21 is adapted turnable 180 deg. in this embodiment. After a material to be refined is fed from a prescribed vessel 46 to the column 10, a cleaning liquid is sent to the column 10. The column 10 is inverted 180 deg. to discharge the cleaning liquid in the column 10 from a waste liquid tube 42. The column 10 is then rotated 180 deg. to restore the original state and an eluant is sent thereto. Since the easy change of the liquid compsn. in the column 10 is thereby permitted, the sepn. of the material with good reproducibility and high efficiency is permitted.
