PURPOSE:To improve response and accuracy by performing phase difference counting processing between an excitation signal and a feedback signal by two systems in parallel at different timing when a position detecting method for inductosyn is employed. CONSTITUTION:A timing generator 2 generates a basic excitation signal with a clock from a clock generator 1 and this signal is supplied to a slider 7 through a sine wave output circuit 3, a cosine wave output circuit 4, and drivers 5 and 6. A signal induced on a scale is supplied to a zero-cross detection part 11 through a preamplifier 9 and a transformer 10 and a rectangular wave signal from it is supplied to a phase difference detection part 12. The output of the phase difference detection part 12 is inputted to an arithmetic processing part 17 through counters 13 and 14 and latch registers 15 and 16. This arithmetic processing part 17 reads pieces of phase difference information of systems A and B alternately and outputs position detection information through an output register 18.
