HEAT TREATMENT OF METALLIC WIRE-CONTAINING GLASS

PURPOSE:To prevent cracks occurring in the circumference of metallic wire and to obtain curved glass having good appearance, by coating cut end of metallic glass-containing glass with a given carbon-containing substance, permeating the substance between the surface of metallic wire and glass and secondarily heating. CONSTITUTION:Before metallic wire-containing is secondarily heated at >=550 deg.C and subjected to bending, the cut end of the glass is coated with a carbon- containing substance. A substance such as third petroleum substance becoming a liquid state at a lower temperature than the secondary heating temperature is selected as the carbon-containing substance/component. The substance is permeated between the surface of metallic wire and glass and decomposed by heating. Consequently, carbon particles are precipitated and retention of metallic wire in glass is prevented.
