PURPOSE:To dispense with preparations for a wide variety of tools as well as to secure an excellent polishing surface in succession, by holding a polishing tool on the surface being opposed to a work surface, and making it so as to have a working device sealed with fluid and another device varying viscosity of the fluid. CONSTITUTION:When voltage is added to an electrode 3 from a power source 7 via a voltage regulator 9, viscosity of suspension 6 is varied to some extent, whereby a polishing tool 1 as a sealing storage body holding an abrasive sheet 5 on an opposed surface with a work surface constitutes such a polishing tool as being variable in a Young's modulus as a whole. Therefore, contact of the abrasive sheet 5 to the preform of a workpiece is properly adaptable. Accordingly, troublesome tool change work at every time form of the workpiece differs and idle time attendant upon this work are avoidable and at the same time preparations for a wide variety of tools become totally unnecessary, thus excellent polishing surface is securable in succession.
