PURPOSE:To make the temperature in a discharge tube uniform and to enable oscillation of laser radiation at high efficiency, by alternately applying positive and negative pulse voltage across the electrodes of the discharge tube, and making the electrodes to function as a cathode and an anode. CONSTITUTION:A high-level trigger signal P1 is applied to the grid electrode of a thyratron 32. When the thyratron 32 is conducted, electric charge stored in a main capacitor 33 is discharged and sent to an electrode 2 through a diode 35. Thus a negative voltage is applied to the electrode 2, and the electrode 2 function as a cathode. Then discharge is generated between the electrodes 2 and 3 of a discharge tube 4. The discharge tube 4 is heated, and metal laser medium 7 is evaporated by the heating. In this way, laser light F is oscillated. A low-level trigger signal P2 is applied to the grid electrode of a thyratron 41. A position voltage is applied to the electrode 3. The electrode 3 function as an anode, and oscillation of the laser radiation F is conducted. |
