PURPOSE:To perform automatic incoming in spite of the communication system of an opponent, by discriminating the communication system from reception data, and selecting a communication control part and a modem corresponding to the communication system. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, a call issuing side, in the case of transmitting data with the communication system recommended by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, sends fixed control data called as a CST signal. Then, a communication system discriminating part 18, in the case of detecting the CST signal via an incoming detecting part 15, switches switching parts 12a-12c so as to connect the communication control part 13a and the modem 14a to a line. In such a way, it is possible to receive the incoming call of the transmission data of the call issuing side by the above mentioned system automatically. Also, when the call issuing side transmits the data with a BSC procedure, the fixed data called as a polling signal is transmitted. Then, similarly the discriminating part 18, in the case of detecting the polling signal, connects the communication control part 13b and the modem 14b to the line, then, the automatic incoming can be performed. Also, the discriminating part 18, in the case of detecting neither, connects a handset 16 and a telephone control part 17 to the line, which forms a speech path.
