PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp image by incorporating white or colorless additive particles into developers of various colors housed in plural developing devices. CONSTITUTION:The developer is applied by a 1st developing means to an electrostatic latent image to develop said image, then an image carrier is subjected to corona discharge by an electrostatic charging means. The electrostatic latent image is again formed and the developer is stuck thereto by the 2nd developing means to develop the image. The developer image after the development is transferred to a material to be transferred by a transfer means. The developers are respectively splashed to stick the electrostatic developer to the latent image in the 1st developing means. The white or colorless additive particles A2 are incorporated into the developer and these particles A2 are stuck to the non- image part. The additive particle A2 are charged in the same manner as coloring particles A1 when the image carrier is charged by the charging means. The additive particles A2 sticking to the non-image part are, therefore, transferred together with the particles A1 as they are to the material to be transferred at the time of transferring the developer image, but the additive particles A2 are colorless and white and do not, therefore, appear as fogging on the paper.
