PURPOSE:To obtain a novel ultrathin film useful as solar battery, photodiode, etc., having excellent photoelectric transfer function and photoconductivity, by accumulating a complex monomolecular film consisting of an amphipathic benzene conjugated compound and a polyanion having absorption at the visible part. CONSTITUTION:A complex monomolecular film consisting of (A) an amphipathic benzene conjugated compound [preferable example; compound shown by formula I (X is azobenzene, biphenyl or diphenylazomethyl; R<1> is alkyl; R<2> is tetraalkylammonium; R<3> and R<4> are ester bond or ether bond to link R<1> and R<2> to X)] and (B) a polyanion [e.g. compound shown by formula II (two or more of R<5>-R<8> are carboxyl or sulfone; M is Cu, Co or Ni)] is accumulated by Langmuir-Blodgett method to give an extremely thin film.
