NEW MATERIAL:A 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane complex consisting of a 1-methyl-3-alkylimidazole-cation shown by the formula (R is methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl or n-amyl), 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane radical anion (TCNQ<-> for short) and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ' for short. USE:Useful for application to organic semiconductor, electric parts optical materials, having both an endothermic point and an exothermic point excellent processing and molding properties because of these points, usable alone as a solid electrolyte for organic semiconductor condenser and industrially useful. PREPARATION:A 1-methyl-3-alkylimidazole cation as a donor substance is reacted with neutral TCNQ to give the titled novel complex.
