PURPOSE:To perform the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese characters) conversion in response to the degree of difficulty and to realize the production of a sentences with the Japanese reading added to KANJI, by referring to a KANJI type table containing the correspondence between the KANJI and its type showing the degree of difficulty after conversion into the KANA-KANJI character data. CONSTITUTION:A limit conversion key 1a of a keyboard 1 is pushed when the types of KANJI are limited. Then a grade setting key 1b and a ruby adding key 1c are pushed. Thus a KANA/KANJI converting part 8 checks with reference to a KANJI type table 9 whether the KANJI once converted belongs or not to those KANJI learned until the grade of an elementary school set by the key 1b. If not, the 'ruby codes' for the Japanese reading added to KANJI are added to the relevant KANJI code signals. While the unlearned KANJI are converted into KANA when the key 1c is not pushed. Thus it is possible to produce a sentence containing the Japanese reading added to KANJI in response to the degree of difficulty.
