PURPOSE:To perform printing to both surfaces of paper without reversing the direction of a printing line on the front and back surfaces of the paper, by feeding the paper whose signal surface is printed to a printing mechanism in such a state that the front and back surfaces of the paper are reversed and rotating the line image from the final printing line of a page to the head line thereof by 180 deg. to apply printing to the back surface of the paper. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 68 is moved to the surface of paper P to perform surface printing and the paper P is fed toward a stacker 71. When paper feed rollers 73, 74 are driven so as to be reversely rotated, the rear end of the paper P is brought into contact with the right side surface of the leading end of a guide 80 to reach the contact part of a platen 64 and a paper feed roller 65. The paper P at this time is in such a state that the surface (printed surface) thereof is on the side of the platen 64. The paper P is fed to a printing position by the platen 64 and paper feed rollers 65, 66 and line printing or line feed aiming the back surface of the paper P is successively repeated from the 60-th line to the first line. When the printing to the back surface of the paper P is finished and double-surface printing is finished, the paper feed rollers 73, 74 continue forward rotational driving and the paper P is discharged to the stacker 71 in such a state that the surface thereof is turned to the stacker 71.
