PURPOSE:To aim at improving charge accepting performance at the time of constant current charge after overdischarge standing by providing with a positive electrode plate using a grid of lead-antimony-based alloy and a negative electrode plate using a grid body of a lead-calcium-based alloy and setting the correlation ratio between the SO4 radical quantity of electrolyte and the quantity of positive electrode active material at 0.4 or over. CONSTITUTION:In an enclosed type lead storage battery in which electrolyte is mostly held in positive and negative electrode plates and a separator to be substantially nonfluidized, it is provided with a positive electrode plate using a grid body of lead-antimony-based alloy including 1-5wt.% antimony, and a negative electrode plate using a grid body of lead-calcium-based alloy, and the correlation ratio between the SO4 radical guantity of electrolyte and the quantity of positive electrode active material is set at 0.4 or over. More of SO4 is held around the grid bodies, and (SbO2)2SO4 is produced around the grid bodies, so dissolving speed of lead into electrolyte is reduced, and production of PbO as a corrosion layer can be delayed. By this, capacity can be completely recovered by charging if the battery is left standing in overdischarge. |
