PURPOSE:To suppress a resonance phenomenon and prevent overvoltage from being caused, by connecting a DC reactor to the DC side terminal of a self- exciting type power converter, and by connecting a filter circuit to an AC side terminal. CONSTITUTION:A current type PWM converter is an AC reactor Ls, a filter capacitor CAP, a self-exciting type power converter SS, and a DC reactor Ld, and current is fed to an AC motor load M. A controlling circuit is composed of a DC current controlling circuit DCC, a power-supply current controlling circuit ACR1, a speed controlling circuit SPC, a load current controlling circuit ACR2, a voltage controlling circuit AVR, and a pulse width modulation controlling circuit PWM. A converter SS1 is composed of a PWM converter, and a converter SS2 is composed of a PWM inverter. Alternating current converted from a direct current source is smoothed by a filter circuit, and the converter SS2 is controlled according to a command value. Even if a resonance phenomenon is forced to be generated by the capacitor CAP or the like, the voltage controlling circuit of the filter circuit is effectively worked.
