PURPOSE:To achieve toothed belt transmission of heavy load with compact structure by entraining a stopper belt about a toothed belt thereby eliminating inter-shaft regulation mechanism for pulley. CONSTITUTION:A stopper belt 3 is entrained about a toothed belt 2 along the circumferential pitch between toothed pulleys 1, 1 so as to allow loosening of the toothed belt 1 only at the inside of belt. Initial tensile force corresponding to load is applied only to the stretching side of the toothed belt 2 upon application of load torque. Since extendable/shrinkable stopper belt 3 does not transmit load torque, tensile force thereof does not lower with time and durability is improved. Furthermore, since the toothed belt 2 is applied with extendable/ shrinkable belt 3 and deformed to be wound over the toothed pulleys 1, 1, the number of engaging teeth increases and skip of tooth does not occur resulting in toothed belt transmission of heavy load.
