PURPOSE:To share first and second timing pulleys and a timing belt, by setting first pitch for approximately half tooth profile of the timing belt and second pitch for the other half tooth profile, while setting first and second circular pitches for first and second timing pulleys. CONSTITUTION:When a first timing pulley 14 is driven by a stepping motor 7, a print head can be moved at 1/N pitch of first pitch (1/160XN inch), i.e. 1/160 inch. When a second timing pulley 15 is driven by the same stepping motor 7, the print head can be moved at 1/M pitch of second pitch (1/180XM inch), i.e. 1/180 inch. Consequently, the same timing belt 11 and timing pulleys 14, 15 can be shared by printers having different printing pitches.
