PURPOSE:To accurately center and hold a toroidal core by a method wherein a chuck part is installed on an index table which is turned in a stepping manner by a driving motor and a shuttle ring used to wind a coil on the toroidal core is installed in the neighborhood of the chuck part. CONSTITUTION:A chuck part 1 is installed on an index table 10 which is turned in a stepping manner by a driving motor 5; a shuttle ring 7 used to wind a coil on a toroidal core 2 is installed in the neighborhood of the chuck part 1. Individual end faces 2a, 2b of the toroidal core 2 are held by the chuck part 1. Said chuck part 1 is constituted by, e.g., a first chuck 17 and a second chuck 18 which are opened and closed freely; and it is installed in an eccentric position of the index table 10. Furthermore, e.g., a core-centering guide body 20 is installed in such a way that a circular arc part 24 which has been formed at its tip part in a manner to be able to approach the chuck part 1 comes into contact with the toroidal core 2; the toroidal core 2 is centered by means of the centering guide body 20.
