PURPOSE:To reliably separate two different sheets by means of a single device, by a method wherein first and second separating means to separate first and second sheets into the one from the other are provided, when the first sheet is separated, the second separating means is moved aside from a position of contact with the sheet. CONSTITUTION:A first separating means 113L to form a gap, being large enough to allow passage of one post card, between the first separating means and a feed roller 81L is situated to the tip of a bottom plate 107L. A separating arm is provided with a low plate, an abutting plate, and a second separating means 145L. During the feed of sheets, a set lever 127 is rotated, and a feed table 109L is lowered to set a sheet. When a printing command is outputted, the feed roller 81L is rotated to feed an uppermost sheet. In this case, ends across the front of the sheet are hooked to a separating claw 145L to start bending. When bending of the sheet exceeds a resilient limit, the ends across, the front of the sheet spring beck to separate the sheets into one from the other.
