PURPOSE:To contrive the improvement of the electromagnetic shielding effect and the hermetic property by forming a cover of a base of a surface acoustic wave element by a resin-made frame and a metal sheet integrally and using the metal sheet as an earth electrode. CONSTITUTION:The cover 10 is formed integrally by the resin-made frame 11 and metal sheets 12, 13, 14 and the parts 13, 14 of the metal sheets are projected as earth terminals at both sides of the frame 11. Then an adhesives is applied to the bottom face of the frame 11 and adhered to the base 30 with the surface acoustic wave element 20 fixed thereupon. Then external terminals 33, 35, 37, 39 and the earth terminals 13, 14 are folded. Thus, electromagnetic shield effect is provided and even when the entire device is heated, the metal sheet 12 is curved to reduce the internal pressure, thereby maintaining the hermetic property between the base 30 and the cover 10.
