PURPOSE:To reduce the cost while the strength of engine frame is secured by forming structure members such as horizontal ribs, intermediate plates, an outer plate and so on to be asymmetrical to the axis of a cylinder according to the side thrust of an engine. CONSTITUTION:In an frame 10 of an engine, according to the magnitude of side thrust, the plate thicknesses and outside dimensions of an outer plate 10a and intermediate plates 10b, 10c are suitably set, and horizontal ribs 10d-1, 10d-2 are formed asymmetrically. Thus, the cost can be reduced while the strength withstanding side thrust is kept.
