摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an automatic focusing device having high focusing rate by substantially discriminating main objects in the respective scenes from the result of range finding to plural points and at the same time focusing on the main object at high rate based on the result. CONSTITUTION:In an active distance measuring system, light beams are sequentially radiated, for example, from three light projecting elements 1a, 1b and 1c. Then the reflected light beam from the object are received in an light receiving element 3 and their focal lengths are arithmetically processed as following by an MPU 6 so as to focus. Namely, the MPU 6 computes the focusing position from the average value of three points such as the nearest point, the middle point and the farthest point if these three points are set in approximate lengths. If the farthest point is an infinity, the MPU 6 decides that it is not information shown by the main object and removes it, then computes the focusing position from the average value of two point. Since the focus is adjusted to be brought thus, the automatic focusing device having high focusing rate can be obtained.
