PURPOSE:To increase permissible number of rejected paper currency during calculation of in-coming money providing a paper currency stopper projecting in a second conveyance path to stop the paper currency being conveyed. CONSTITUTION:A paper currency 80 conveyed through a first conveyance path 6 is held between a second conveyance path 70 and conveyed in a condition of being slipped out of place and overlapping one another like paper currency 81, 82 due to the difference of conveying speed between the first conveyance path 6 and the second conveyance path 70. A movable press plate 9 is installed in a paper currency storage portion 1 to press an incoming paper currency 10 against a separation mechanism. A paper currency stopper 11 and the press plate 9 are made in one unit so as to shut off the second conveyance path 70. The paper currency 80 in a condition of being slipped out of place and overlapping one another is conveyed through the second conveyance path 70. It then hits the paper currency stopper 11 and is placed in order with the successive paper currency as per a paper currency 18. After the paper currency 10 is completely separated and sent out, the press plate 9 and paper currency stopper 11 are evacuated and the paper currency 13 lined up in the second conveyance path 70 are discharged to the paper currency storage portion 1.
