PURPOSE:To easily remove 1,1,1-trichloroethane to recover and reutilize the same, by treating 1,1,1-trichloroethane contained in waste water with steam and air. CONSTITUTION:Waste water 7 containing 1,1,1-trichloroethane is introduced into a primary aeration tank 1 and compressed air 10 is injected in the waste water from a compressed air diffusion pipe 12 to apply aeration treatment to the waste water. At this time, steam 9 is supplied to the primary aeration tank 1 to treat 1,1,1-trichloroethane in the waste water by the steam 9 and aeration and waste gas 11 containing 1,1,1-trichloroethane is recovered and reutilized. This waste water which has been subjected to the primary aeration is successively subjected to aeration treatment in the upper state 2, middle stage 3 and lower stage 4 of a secondary aeration tank and the concn. of 1,1,1- trichloroethane in treated water 8 is reduced to 3ppm or less and the treated water 8 is discharged by a water feed pump 6.
