PURPOSE:To make centrifugal separation of raw liquid such as heavy hydrocarbon components possible at optimal temperature by winding an electric heater on the external peripheral surface of a casing installed to encircle a rotary cylinder and thereby controlling the temperature of the liquid in the rotary cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A raw liquid F heated to proper temperature is supplied to a centrifuge by a pump from a material supply port 2, and separated into a light fraction L, L' and a heavy fraction H through a subseparation chamber 1, a coalescing chamber 4 and a finish separation chamber 5. After this, these fractions are ejected from their respective outlets 3, 6, 7 to the outerior of the centrifuge. At that time, as a rotary cylinder 8 rotates at a high speed such as several thousands of rpm, the air between a casing 9 and the rotary cylinder 8 rotates likewise at a high speed to generate a turbulence. Thus the heat of an electric heater 10 is transferred efficiently, so that the temperature of the liquid in the rotary cylinder 8 can be controlled freely to a required level by adjusting the setting of a temperature measured by a thermometer 13 to any proper level.
