PRODUCTION OF WHOLLY AROMATIC POLYAMIDE FILM

PURPOSE:To regenerate and deposit a uniform and tough wholly arom. polyamide film on the surface of the anode by substituting a metal for hydrogen in each amido group in wholly arom. polyamide to make the polyamide soluble in a solvent and by impressing DC voltage on a soln. of the soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:Wholly arom. polyamide such as poly-p-benzamide is treated with a reactive soln. contg. sodium and dimethyl sulfoxide. By this treatment, a sodium is substd. for hydrogen in each amido group to make the polyamide soluble in a solvent. A soln. of the soluble polymer is then electrolyzed by supplying DC at about 0.5-50mA/cm<2> current density and about 40-400V electrolytic voltage. A uniform and accurate wholly arom. polyamide film is regenerated and deposited on the surface of the anode.
