PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer which is excellent in dispersibility in an org. polymer, water, an org. solvent, etc., and is suited for use as a colorant for an ink, a coating compsn., etc., a modifier for various polymers, etc., by reacting carbon black with a polymer having a particular reactive group. CONSTITUTION:A polymerizable monomer having in its molecule at least one reactive group selected from an aziridine group, in oxazoline group and an N-hydroxyalkylamide group (e.g., isopropenyloxazoline, optionally together with another polymerizable monomer (e.g., styrene), is polymerized to give a polymer (B) having said reactive group in its molecule. 100pts.wt. carbon black (A) is reacted with 1-3,000pts.wt. component (B) at room temp. - 350 deg.C under agitation.
