PURPOSE:To produce the titled alloy having excellent damping capacity by infiltrating the metals having high sp.gr. and low m.p. such as Pb, Sn, In, etc., into the pores of porous magnesium skeleton prepd. by a powder metallurgy of Mg powders. CONSTITUTION:The porous magnesium skeleton is prepd. by the powder metallurgy method in which the Mg powders are subjected to green compacting and are sintered. At least one or more kinds of metals among Pb, Sn and In having the sp.gr. much different from that of Mg and having the lower melting point than that of Mg are infiltrated to obtain a composite alloy. In this alloy, about >=50vol.% or about >=20wt.% Mg is regulated to retain the mechanical strength thereof. The damping capacity of Mg is improved by the above- mentioned metallic filtration.
