PURPOSE:To prepare a health green tea having improved physiological effects and tastiness, by blending dried leaves of Gymnema sylvestre (hereinafter referred to as Gymnema) with rolled and twisted green tea leaves, such as coarse green tea, roasted green tea, 'GENMAI-CHA' (coarse green tea mixed with roasted popped rice) or oolong tea. CONSTITUTION:Leaves of Gymnema are roasted at 100-250 deg.C for 10-40min and then cooled to room temperature Foreign materials, such as stems, are removed to coarsely roll the leaves. The resultant dried Gymnema leaves are blended with green tea leaves, such as roasted green tea, to prepare a health green tea. In the process, the ratio of the blended dried Gymnema is preferably 10-60% based on the totals solid weight. Thereby the tastiness is remarkably improved and the tea can be used for drinking without impairing the essential taste of the green tea. Oolong tea is especially excellently compatible and im proved physiological effects of the Gymnema can be effectively utilized.
