PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily perform demolding operation by a method wherein ceramic powder or granules is filled in an annular space made by a tubular mold, which is vertically divided into two parts, and the tubular elastic body is compression-formed through the inside tubular elastic body. CONSTITUTION:A lower mold 1B is horizontally fixed on a vibrating table 21. In addition, end plates 3A and 3B are respectively supported by being fitted respectively in the annular grooves 2A and 2B of the lower mold 1B. Next, ceramic powder A is filled through the filling hole 10 of an upper mold 1A in an annular space chamber 9. After that, the filling hole 10 is blocked with a plug 22 and water or oil is poured in a central space chamber 11 by opening an air vent hole 13, putting a pump 17 into drive and changing-over a selector valve 18. Next, the liquid is pressurized by means of a press and, after that, the pressure of the liquid is raised by putting a relief valve 20 under loaded state so as to compression-form the ceramic powder. After forming, the liquid pressure is lowered and the liquid in an elastic body 4 is discharged. The upper mold 1A, the end plates 3A and 3B and rings 6A and 6B are removed in the order named. Then, the elastic body 4 is removed from the ceramic compact. Finally, the compact is taken out of the lower mold 1B.
